Our mission is to advance birth justice.
Our work is organized into three areas, or “orbits:” Community Power, Public Health Law and Advocacy, and Movement Building.
These three areas are interconnected and work together to address the isolation and exposure to harm that people experience in the perinatal period.
Our Community Power work is designed to meet people where they are at and increase their capacity for attuned support and protective defense. This work includes community organizing, relationship building, doula training and doula support. Our Public Health Law and Advocacy work addresses legal needs that negatively affect perinatal health with the goal of improving health for multiple generations at once. This work combines storytelling support, individual legal services, and "community justice doula” consultations for individuals who have experienced discrimination or harm during the perinatal period. This direct service work serves as a vital context or “incubator” in which we build the individual relationships and community trust that are at the foundation of our community-led policy work. Our Movement Building work strives to increase innovation in the field by supporting infrastructure for emerging projects and ideas, especially those that are community based and led by people who are directly-impacted.
Thank you for your support!!
